Meet G Hotel's RE-MAR-KABLE Chef

It was once written that “when performance exceeds ambition, the overlap is called success.” True enough, such was achieved by Marcelo Tesalona as he rose from the ranks to now sit at the helm of G Hotel Manila by Waterfront’s culinary team.

Chef Mar, as he is fondly called, first explored the infinitely inventive world of food preparation as a commis at the Le Souffle Restaurant in Makati City after completing his studies at the Lyceum of the Philippines as an Associate in Hotel & Restaurant Management.

Perseverance spelled prosperity as he worked his way up the corporate ladder through commendable achievements at various institutions like the Subic Bay Yacht Club, the Manila Hotel, and Café Provencale at the Edsa Shangrila Mall. His energetic diligence as Sous Chef at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino bagged his well-deserved promotion as Executive Chef of G Hotel Manila, where he has incessantly reinvented his culinary skills since relocating in October 2006.

A bona fide Capricornian avatar, Chef Mar’s perennial zeal to enhance his efficiency in the kitchen has earned him the respect and admiration accorded only to innovative gourmands. An avid supporter of continuous development, G Hotel Manila’s 39-year-old gastronome gives new meaning to former US President Harry Truman’s words: “It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.”
